Aluminium shutters and screening across a poolside patio on a white Gold Coast home

Aluminium Shutters, Gold Coast

Built for sun, salt and weather. Powder-coated aluminium shutters for Gold Coast outdoor spaces.

Aluminium Shutters

The shutter that lives outside

Timber and PVC shutters are indoor products. Put either on a west-facing Gold Coast balcony and you'll be replacing them.

Aluminium is the one that survives. Full sun, salt air, driving rain, coastal wind — it doesn't warp, swell, rot, fade or corrode. Powder-coated aluminium on a beachfront balcony will still be operating properly in twenty years.

That's why it's the default on patios, balconies, alfresco areas and any window taking direct weather.

What they do

Three jobs at once

Privacy

Closed louvres give complete privacy on a balcony or patio, without walling the space in. Angle them and you keep airflow and light while blocking sightlines from neighbours or the street.

Weather

Closed panels take the edge off wind and driving rain, which turns an unusable alfresco area into a room you can sit in through a summer storm. Not fully sealed — for that you want outdoor blinds — but a substantial improvement.

Security

Aluminium shutters over a ground-floor window or a balcony door are a genuine physical barrier, and they read as one. Lockable configurations available. It's a security measure that doesn't make the house look like it needs one.

Finishes & colours

Powder-coated to any colour

Powder-coated in the full standard range — whites, greys, charcoals, blacks, and the timber-look finishes that read convincingly from a few metres.

Most people match either the window frames or the roof trim. We can colour-match to an existing sample where you need it.

For coastal properties, ask us about marine-grade powder coating — it can extend the life of the finish in salt air.

Aluminium shutters — common questions

How much are aluminium shutters on the Gold Coast?

Mid to high, between PVC and timber. Priced per square metre of opening, so a large balcony span costs more than several small windows. Free measure and itemised quote.

Do they get hot in the sun?

The surface warms in direct sun, as any external material does. Lighter powder-coat colours stay noticeably cooler than dark ones — worth factoring in if the shutters are somewhere people brush past.

Will they corrode near the ocean?

Quality powder-coated aluminium is highly corrosion-resistant. For beachfront properties, ask us about marine-grade coating options. Rinse them with fresh water occasionally and they'll long outlast anything else you could put there.

Can I use them indoors?

You can, and they suit industrial-style interiors. But for most indoor rooms timber looks better and PVC costs less, so aluminium indoors is usually a style choice rather than a practical one.

Are they the same as outdoor blinds?

No. Shutters are rigid louvred panels — adjustable, permanent, and they screen rather than seal. Outdoor blinds are fabric or PVC that roll down to fully enclose a space. Shutters look better and last longer; blinds seal better against wind and rain. Plenty of homes use both in different spots.
