Our range
Shutters cost more than blinds. They're also the only window covering that a real estate agent will mention in the listing.
Properly made plantation shutters last decades rather than years. They don't fade, sag, fray or need replacing when the fabric dates. They give better light control than anything else — angle the louvres and you can have full daylight with complete privacy, which no blind or curtain manages. And in a Gold Coast home they earn back a genuine portion of their cost at resale.
They're a considered purchase, not an impulse one. Which is why we'd rather sit down at your window and work out whether they're actually right for the room.
This is the core decision on the page. Everything else follows from it.
Timber Shutters
Real timber has a warmth and a grain that composites can approximate but never match, and it takes paint and stain finishes beautifully.
Timber is also the lightest of the three, which matters on large panels — less weight means less strain on the hinges and a shutter that still closes properly in fifteen years.
Where it doesn't belong is anywhere consistently damp. Bathrooms, laundries and homes right on the water are hard on timber, and no finish makes it fully immune.
Best for: living areas, bedrooms, studies. Anywhere dry where you want the shutter to feel like joinery.

PVC Shutters
PVC shutters won't warp, swell, crack or discolour in moisture, which makes them the right answer for bathrooms, laundries, kitchens and any home close to the beach.
Modern PVC is considerably better than its reputation — the surface finish is convincing and it holds a clean white better than painted timber does over time.
The trade-off is weight. PVC is heavier, so very wide panels need an extra centre stile for support.
Best for: wet areas, beachfront and canal-front homes, anywhere low-maintenance is the priority.
Aluminium Shutters
Aluminium shutters handle full sun, salt air, wind and rain without warping, fading or corroding — which is why they're standard on Gold Coast patios, balconies and alfresco areas.
They double as security and privacy screening, and on an exposed balcony they'll take weather that would destroy any other material within a season.
Powder-coated in a full colour range, so they can match existing joinery or window frames.
Best for: outdoor areas, balconies, patios, exposed coastal windows.

Configurations
Panels swing open like small doors. The standard, and the best-looking. Needs clearance in front of the window.
Panels slide on a track past each other. For wide openings where hinged panels have nowhere to swing.
Panels concertina back against the wall. Best for very wide spans where you want the whole opening clear.
No opening at all. For high windows, feature windows and anywhere you only need the louvres.
We supply 63mm, 89mm and 114mm louvres. Wider louvres mean fewer of them, a cleaner look and more view when open — they generally suit larger windows. Narrower louvres suit smaller windows and more traditional homes. We'll show you the difference at the measure.
Custom shapes
This is where custom actually means something. We make shutters for bay windows, arched and half-round openings, angled and raked windows, French doors, and windows that were built before anyone thought about standard sizes.
Older Queensland homes in particular are rarely square. Every panel is measured and built to the opening it's going in, not trimmed to fit on the day.

Shutters are a long-term purchase. It helps to buy them from someone who'll still be here.
Shutter installation is unforgiving — an out-of-square panel shows immediately. The person who measures fits it.
We'll steer you away from timber in a bathroom even though timber costs more.
On every shutter we supply and fit.

Good to know
More than blinds and more than most curtains — typically several hundred to well over a thousand dollars per window depending on size, material and configuration. The measure and quote is free and itemised, and doing several windows at once brings the per-window cost down.
If you're staying in the house, yes — they last decades, need almost no maintenance, and give better light control than anything else. If you're selling within a year or two, blinds will likely serve you better for the money. We'll tell you which situation you're in.
Timber for dry rooms where you want warmth and the best look. PVC for bathrooms, laundries and homes near the water, where moisture would eventually take a toll on timber. Aluminium for anything outdoors.
They're one of the few window treatments agents list as a feature. They read as a permanent fixture rather than a furnishing, which is how buyers value them.
Longer than blinds — custom shutters are built to your exact window shape. Expect a longer lead time than a blind or curtain order. We'll confirm at quote.
Yes. Arches, half-rounds, raked windows and bays are all standard custom work for us.
Dust with a cloth or a vacuum brush attachment. PVC and aluminium can be wiped with a damp cloth. Timber shouldn't be wet-cleaned beyond a barely damp wipe. That's the whole maintenance routine.
